The creators of I Think You Should Leave and Detroiters are bringing their highly specific brand of surreal comedy over to HBO Max. Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin reunite for The Chair Company, which stars Robinson as a man named Ronald Trosper who endures an embarrassing incident while at work that leads him down the rabbit hole of a dark conspiracy.
That’s all we know about the show for now, and the trailer does little to add any extra clarity, but that makes anticipation for the premiere of season one all the more exciting. Plus, the trailer might be vague, but it’s full of that type of humor Robinson has become known for. The series looks like it will be an absurd comedy-drama in the vein of Friendship, also starring Robinson and directed by one of The Chair Company’s executive producers, Andrew DeYoung. Whatever it is, we’re here for it.
The Chair Company starts streaming on October 12.
