Timothée Chalamet has finally addressed rumors that he’s living a secret second life as rapper EsDeeKid — sort of.
During his Thursday, December 11, appearance on the British podcast “Heart Breakfast,” Chalamet, 29, finally spoke out about the viral rumor. “I got two words on that. All will be revealed in due time,” the Call Me By Your Name star cryptically told hosts Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden after being confronted about the topic. “That was a little more than two words,” he playfully admitted after the fact.
Holden hilariously brought up Chalamet’s high school rapper identity, Lil Timmy Tim, which fans learned about after a video of a song he wrote and performed went viral following his mainstream success. Perhaps the Oscar nominee has finally decided it’s about time to go after a Grammy, and fans are in full support!
The speculation has only continued to grow on social media following his refusal to confirm or deny the rumors, which first began just a month ago after fans of the actor began noticing uncanny similarities between him and the Liverpool rapper.
“That rapper EsDeeKid … I believe that that may be Timothée Chalamet, TikTok user KJ Freeman said in a video posted November 11. “Timothée Chalamet would fake a Scouse accent and become a U.K. drill rapper, like, that’s in his DNA,” Freeman continued in the video, which went viral and ultimately got fans talking.
Fans note that the rapper and actor have scarily similar eyes and later doubled down on the rumor after Chalamet was spotted at a Fakemink concert in August, a frequent collaborator of EsDeeKid.
UK native EsDeeKid began his career in 2023 and made waves the following year after being named one of Pitchfork’s Breakout Artists of the Year. He later garnered over 11.7 million monthly Spotify listeners and later found mainstream success with albums such as Rebel (2025) and songs like “Phantom” featuring Rico Ace — and his identity has remained anonymous throughout it all. The rapper appears in public with a face covering, only revealing his eyes and often wearing dark clothing. He also has yet to address the rumors.
Is Chalamet really an award-winning actor by day and U.K. drill rapper by night? Some aren’t so sure. While it’s true he and EsDeeKid haven’t been seen in the same room together, it’s hard to imagine that the actor could juggle his movie star schedule with a world tour and music video shoots. Even so, fans online are quite enjoying adding fuel to the fire and certainly won’t rest until they get a real answer!
Chalamet’s appearance on the podcast comes ahead of the December 25 release of Marty Supreme, in which he plays the titular role, sharing the screen with Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler, the Creator and Odessa A’zion. The film, directed by Josh Safdie, loosely follows the true story of ping-pong player Martin “The Needle” Reisman.
So has Chalamet been working on his rhymes and British accent? It’s a possibility, and fans will find out for sure sooner rather than later!
