Neil Patrick Harris revealed that his teenage daughter, Harper, has a hefty price tag on her Christmas list.
“She sends us a link to a Chanel purse that’s a vintage Chanel purse,” Harris, 52, said in an interview with Parade published on Monday, December 22. “[She said] ‘Boy this is a great price, $2,000. Normally it’s more than that.’”
Harris, who shares twins Harper and Gideon, both 15, with husband David Burtka, added that Harper was the “hardest” one to shop for.
“She has really good taste in clothes and shoes and everything is very expensive,” he reflected. “That’s not the problem, the problem is every two or three days, she wants something new.”
When Harper told her dad the latest item she wanted for Christmas, he asked her if she was sure because she kept changing her mind.
“I’m like, ‘What? A $2,000 purse you want? But wait, this is just today because yesterday you wanted these crazy shoes and before that you wanted some dress. So I’m not getting you all these things,’” he recalled telling the teen.
Harris didn’t reveal whether or not he ended up getting her the purse because he was still undecided on what to do for her.
“And by the time late December rolls around, I don’t know where that spinning wheel is gonna wind up,” he told the outlet.
While Harper is the hardest one to shop for in their family, Harris admitted that he tries to make gift giving easy for his loved ones. He has a shared document where he puts down things he’d like all year long.
“I have a shared note and as I’m online looking at things that I want [I add them]. I’m easy because I like puzzles, games, magic things, cocktail glasses and stirrers and I just keep adding to the shared list with the intention that I don’t want everything on the list,” he explained. “I do so many things that I forget what I put on them. So then when I open presents I’m thrilled.”
Last month, Harper showed off her love for fashion and musicals as she attended the New York City premiere of Wicked: For Good alongside Burtka, 50. Harper dazzled in a sequin green gown paying homage to Cynthia Erivo’s character Elphaba. The teen completed the look with a black fur coat and heels.
Harris, for his part, could not attend the premiere as he was starring in Art on Broadway, which ended on Sunday, December 21. Harris previously shared how both his teens have supported him in the show.
“Everyone has seen the show,” the How I Met Your Mother alum told People in September. “Harper came and saw it on Sunday, Gideon saw it by himself like three days before that and David has seen it twice, which I’m really chuffed by because I love that they’re able to come to the opening night and not say, ‘I hope it’s good,’ but sort of be representing and proud of papa and what he’s doing.”
