Meghan Markle has made a rare comment about the two kids she shares with her husband, Prince Harry.
While accepting Humanitarians of the Year award at Project Healthy Minds’ annual gala in New York City on Thursday, October 9, Meghan reflected on how quickly Archie and Lilibet are growing up, per People.
“Our children, Archie and Lilibet, are just 6 and 4 years old,” Meghan, 44, said on stage alongside Harry, 41, the outlet reported. She added: “Can you believe it?”
Meghan also spoke about how she and Harry are concerned about trying to keep Archie and Lilibet safe online when they are old enough to use social media. (Meghan and Harry’s Archewell initiative, The Parents Network, has teamed up with nonprofit ParentsTogether in a bid to protect and support children and families affected by social media harm.)
“Luckily, they’re still too young for social media, but we know that day is coming,” Meghan continued. “Like so many parents, we think constantly about how to embrace technology’s benefits while safeguarding against its dangers. And that hopeful intention of separation is rapidly becoming impossible.”
Ahead of being honored at the gala, Meghan and Harry released a joint statement detailing the importance of the work done by their Archewell initiative.

“Working with families and young people to prioritize safety online has been some of the most meaningful work of our lives,” they said in the joint statement in September. “As parents ourselves, we have been moved to action by the power of their stories and are honored to support them.”
They concluded, “We’re proud to be long-time partners of Project Healthy Minds as we work together to shine a light on what remains one of the most pressing issues of our time.”
While Meghan and Harry have made a conscious decision to keep Archie and Lilibet out of the spotlight as much as possible, the former Suits actress has touched on her parenting journey over the years.
“Being a mom is the most important thing in my entire life — outside, of course, being a wife to this one,” Meghan said during a panel at Project Healthy Minds’ World Mental Health Day Festival in October 2023, referring to Harry. “But I will say I feel fortunate that our children are at an age, again quite young, so this isn’t in our immediate future, but I also feel frightened at how it’s continuing to change and this will be in front of us.”
The previous year, Meghan spoke about being in the “thick” of parenting while her kids were young during a November 2022 episode of her “Archetypes” podcast.
“The morning rush … for me, it’s both monitors on for the kids, to hear them,” she said on the podcast. “Always up with Lili, get her downstairs, then half an hour later, Archie’s up. Start doing his lunchbox right before he’s up while I have [Lili], getting her a little nibble. My husband’s helping me get him downstairs and I make breakfast for all three of them. It’s very important to me. I love doing it.”
