Reese Witherspoon is dishing on pal Jennifer Aniston’s close relationship with her exes.
The actress, 49, reflected on public perception of her Morning Show costar during an appearance on the Monday, November 3, episode of the “Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard” podcast, telling hosts Dax Shepard and Monica Padman that people often have misconceptions about the Friends icon.
The conversation came up when Shepard, 50, and Padman, 38, mentioned that they recently interviewed Aniston, 56, on the show.
“We’ve known each other so long and we’re very different people,” Witherspoon said of her longtime friend, to which Shepard responded that “opposites attract.”

“She’s really warm and welcoming. She’s a big host, like, ‘Come over.’ She’s very warm and friendly. I think I’m more nerdy,” Witherspoon went on.
As Witherspoon went on to describe Aniston, whose life has played out in the public eye since she became a household name thanks to Friends, the Oscar winner admitted to getting emotional about the scrutiny Aniston faces.
“But Jen, I will say … I’ve known Jen 25 years, 26 years. She’s always been really lovely and nurturing and warm and friendly and kind, and has been through her own stuff, you know?” Witherspoon said. “And also has reason to be a little guarded. It can make me cry … I’ve cried in one of our interviews ’cause I was just like, I just think people are so unfair sometimes — they think they know her and make assumptions.”
The Big Little Lies actress added, “She’s not who people think she is, like, holding onto old things. She’s not holding onto old things.”

“She’s not pining for Brad Pitt,” Shepard interjected, referring to Aniston’s ex-husband of five years. (The couple married in 2000 after two years of dating and divorced in 2005.)
Witherspoon agreed, “No, she’s doing great,” before sharing an anecdote from Aniston’s 50th birthday celebrations in 2019.
“By the way, at her 50th birthday, one of the biggest testaments I can say to what a wonderful person she is … people from her teenage years, people from her 20s, people who work in her home, every ex-husband, ex-boyfriend, was there,” Witherspoon said. “She just is, like, a high spiritual integrity person.”
As well as Pitt, Aniston was previously married to actor Justin Theroux, whom she met in 2011. The couple married in August 2015 but separated at the end of 2017.
Aniston recently made her relationship with hypnotherapist Jim Curtis Instagram official as she celebrated his 50th birthday on Sunday, November 2, with a sweet social media tribute.
“Happy birthday my love … Cherished ❤️,” she wrote alongside a black-and-white photo of her wrapping her arms around Curtis.
Theroux, 54, “liked” Aniston’s post, while Witherspoon commented, “Happy Birthday ! LOVE this Lovestory 💕✨.”
Aniston and Curtis first sparked dating rumors in July when they were spotted together on a yacht in Mallorca. That same month, a source confirmed to Us Weekly that the pair were dating after being set up by friends.
“They are being super private but have been spending a lot of time together,” the insider said. “They are happy and really into each other.”
