Alyssa Milano is smiling her way into her new year. “This is 52. No make up. No filters. Happiness. Sprinkle that s—t everywhere,” Milano, 52, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, December 19. “I love you all. Even the trolls. If you can hate a stranger—I can love a stranger. So…I love you. 🥰.” Alongside the […]

Milano’s filter-free image also inspired her to write a poem about aging..

“Today is my birthday. I am 53,” she began her poem. “This is around the age where doctors and influencers and ad companies all start using the same word about you, gently, almost in a whisper, like they’re apologizing in advance.

She continued, ‘Elasticity.’ It’s a word from physics, from fabrics, from rubber bands and waistlines and things designed to stretch and then, ideally, return. Skin loses elasticity, but what they’re really talking about isn’t vanity. It’s mechanics. It’s the body’s long relationship with force. The ability to stretch under pressure and return to itself.”

In another stanza of Milano’s poem, she mused about the effects of aging.

It’s no secret that many of Hollywood’s A-listers have breast implants. But what you may not know is that as popular as the cosmetic enhancement is, celebs also aren’t afraid to say goodbye to them for good. Dr. John Paul Tutela, a trusted NY and NJ board-certified plastic surgeon tells Us Weekly that the two […]

“When you’re young, this is just assumed. You fall in love, fall apart and bounce back,” she wrote. “No one tells you how much effort that takes because it doesn’t yet take effort. At some point, though, this quality becomes noticeable because it becomes finite. Your skin hesitates, so does your heart. You take longer to come back. From boozy nights, from grief, from disappointment, from people.”

The Charmed alum added, “You stretch. You stay stretched. And here’s the part no one says out loud: ‘That’s not failure. It’s evidence.’ Every place that doesn’t snap back is a place that held weight. Held children. Held loss. Held fear. Held joy long enough to wrinkle it in and make it permanent. I have less give with my time now. Less patience for being pulled in directions that drain me, but I have more capacity for truth, for tenderness, for holding discomfort and for staying.”

Milano further stressed that she didn’t want to look back anymore — only forward.

“Today, I am 53. What didn’t return was never lost to me,” she concluded. “It simply learned a deeper gravity.”

Milano, who shares two children with husband David Bugliari, has previously been candid about getting cosmetic enhancements. In addition to Botox injections, Milano once had a breast augmentation. She ultimately had her implants removed in September.

“Today I’m releasing those false narratives, the parts of me that were never actually parts of me,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “I’m letting go of the body that was sexualized [and] that I believed was necessary for me to be attractive; to be loved; to be successful; to be happy. And in doing so, I hope I am releasing my daughter Bella from ever feeling those same unhealthy demands.”

Milano added, “Today I am loved, I am feminine, I am attractive, and I am successful. None of that is because of my implants. I will still be all of those things when I wake up and they are gone. There is so much and joy in that knowledge and freedom in letting go of what was never me in the first place.”
