The Real Housewives of Orange County alum Meghan King is marking the festive season with her children after settling a custody dispute with ex-husband Jim Edmonds.
“Went to the holiday mart and only spent money on this,” King, 41, wrote via her Instagram Stories on Saturday, December 13, sharing a photo of her three children huddled around a claw machine game. “We are a claw-loving clan!”
King shares daughter Aspen, 9, and sons Hart and Hayes, both 7, with ex-husband Edmonds, 55.
King and the former baseball star were married from 2014 to 2019, ultimately agreeing to share custody of their kids upon their divorce. Us Weekly broke the news in November that King was stripped of her physical custody rights and granted supervised visitation instead.
A source told Us at the time that the custody decision stemmed from a school employee calling Child Protective Services on King, which triggered an investigation. A hearing into King’s rights was ultimately canceled after the former couple reached a deal.
“The custody hearing has been called off,” Edmonds’ rep, Steve Honig, told Us in a statement earlier this month. “Both sides have reached an agreement that is in the best interests of the children.”
A second insider revealed to Us that Aspen, Hayes and Hart will live with Edmonds full-time in Tennessee, and stay with King for a few weeks every summer.
Neither King nor Jim, who is now married to Kortnie Edmonds, have publicly addressed the custody dispute. The now-exes’ former RHOC costars, meanwhile, have offered their support.
“Meghan and I are friends, and I will stand by her and support her,” Alexis Bellino told Us in December. “All I can say is that I know that it’s very difficult, and I just adore her and it’s not easy. I don’t believe everything I read. I would speak to her before I could comment on anything further.”
Kelly Dodd, meanwhile, wrote via TikTok that she was praying King “gets her babies back.”
“Everyone, just pray for Meghan and her family,” Dodd, 50, wrote. “Those boys and that daughter need their mom. They need their mother, and it’s terrible what is going on right now.”
King had long been candid about her coparenting dynamics with Jim, last telling Us in March 2024 that they had “come a long way.”
“Things are good,” King exclusively told Us in March 2024, noting the exes were “splitting” custody of their children. “I gave my kids Apple IDs, which you can do, by the way. You could still be [their] mom and they can have an Apple ID that’s totally restricted. It’s been smoother sailing, but I think it’s also because they’re older. Life stages change situations. We still have ways to go, but I’m confident that we’ll get there.”
King also gave Us an update into her relationship with Kortnie at the time.
“I mean, we’re not going out for happy hour, but I view [Kortnie] as a positive influence in my children’s lives,” King told Us last year, revealing where she stands with her children’s stepmother. “I’m grateful for that. … It’s only for the sake of the kids. It’s not, like, I’m trying to be besties with anybody. I think there’s a big difference between friendship and allyship.”
She continued, “You can be aligned in the same purpose and goal, and you don’t even have to like the person, but it’s almost stronger than a friendship. You are both in the same boat and totally focused on the same general outcome.”
Jim also has four older children from previous marriages.
