Read Justin Baldoni’s Text Messages Amid It Ends With Us Drama

Justin Baldoni’s private text messages have been released amid his ongoing legal battle against his It Ends With Us costar Blake Lively.

According to court documents unsealed on Tuesday, January 20, Baldoni, 41, sent messages to Lively about their collaboration on It Ends With Us and spoke about the behind-the-scenes drama to others. In addition to Baldoni’s messages, Lively’s correspondence has been released as well. The actress made headlines for her communication with close friend Taylor Swift.

The release of the messages comes amid his and Lively’s ongoing legal battle. In December 2024, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni accusing her costar and director of sexual harassment and orchestrating an alleged smear campaign against her.

Baldoni has vehemently denied the allegations and countersued Lively for defamation. Baldoni’s lawsuit was dismissed by a judge last year. Lively’s case remains ongoing, and it is headed for trial which is scheduled for May.

One person, whose name was redacted, replied, “praying for strength and protection and angels all around you” and Rainn Wilson responded “sitting now for some prayers.”

Blake Lively Asks Justin Baldoni About Filming ‘Body Scenes’

In an exchange between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, the actress asked the director if it was possible to film the “body scenes at the end of the schedule.” Baldoni admitted he didn’t have a definitive answer to her question but offered some encouragement.

“I want you to know you will look amazing. Anything you are insecure about we will talk through and get creative together and make you comfortable. I just don’t want you to stress about your body,” he replied. “It’s the last thing you need. As soon as I have a rough schedule that’s even remotely accurate I’ll share and I’ll make sure this team keeps this in mind as well.”

Justin Baldoni Hints at BTS Drama With Blake Lively

In a message to Jamey Heath, Justin Baldoni asks if one of their fellow crew members knew anything about what was going on with Blake Lively or the “drama” on set. Heath shared that the colleague knew Lively got COVID and “wasn’t happy” about it. Baldoni added he spoke to another colleague named Steve about what was going on.

“He said he should come to sit and remind Blake who’s money this is and I said that’s not the best idea,” Baldoni wrote.

Heath replied that he also spoke to Steve about how “difficult” Lively is to work with adding, “he doesn’t quite get the nuance”

‘Prayers and Support’ Group Chat

Justin Baldoni sent a heartfelt message in a group chat asking for more good vibes as he returned to film It Ends With Us.

“Hey fellas- I know it’s been a while since I texted this group but alas – Jamey and I are back in New Jersey trying to finish the film and prayers are appreciated,” he wrote. “Just wanted to give you a little update. These first few days have been torturous and up there with the worst of all of them. But I preface the below with the fact that I am actually okay. Jamey is more than OK. We are getting through it.”

Baldoni added that he was having a hard time emotionally but was persevering.

“The amount I’ve grown since last time is even surprising me. I cried yesterday cause I felt the protection and the deep knowing I am not what I’m being portrayed as,” he continued. “I feel protected and clear. Jamey has been unwavering. And I believe it will all be OK.”

Baldoni also claimed that he received a “legal letter” citing “how unsafe” he and the workplace were.

“In an effort to gain power over me personally and the studio, we received a legal letter sighting How unsafe I and the workplace were for the Actor (s), and that she won’t return to work unless we meet 17 conditions and send her the unfinished directors cut of [the] movie,” Baldoni claimed “Also that she has been considering leaving the film and not returning to work because she has legal right to do so- we have responded and met the conditions and after she sees the film she will decide.”

Baldoni shared that the “good news” was that he was “so proud of what’s been shot and cut together.” However, he was struggling after the document insinuated he was being “unsafe” and “sexually harassing” others.

“I believe this is in part punishment for standing my ground and not giving her little things she wanted,” Baldoni wrote, seemingly referring to Lively. “[I’m] working through it and staying positive and remembering who I am. Just letting you know the situation I’ve been in, I appreciate prayers of protection to stay in my strength.”

Baldoni added that he doesn’t want anyone to “dwell” on the drama or “curse her.”

“In fact, [I] want to do the opposite. Pray for her soul. For light to fill it. I’m staying as positive as I can. [I] know I have protection!! “ he continued. “This is where being a Bahai matters. Can I send love, not be a victim or curse her, and still somehow show up and direct and act with kindness in my heart? All that’s left for three weeks is our intense work together.”

Baldoni continued, “This is what I could use prayers and strength for. I trust this group immensely – I love you all and no talking about this with ANYONE. Just prayers for your boy(s) over here being painted in a way I never thought possible. We will overcome.”

The actor received support from his friends including Andy Grammer and Rainn Wilson.

“Sending immense love and patience. You are guided and loved. You were made and born to be able to get through this. Love you guys,” the singer wrote.

The Office star replied, “Justin this is heartbreaking and infuriating. I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. What a test has been sent your way. I believe in you – in your heart, talent and integrity. Keep Abdul Baha literally by your side through this.”

Rainn Wilson Checks in With Justin Baldoni

Following Justin Baldoni’s group chat message talking about the issues on set of It Ends With Us, Rainn Wilson followed up to see how things were going. Baldoni responded, sharing he endured “one of the hardest nights” of his life.

“It’s hard to describe what happened exactly. The only way to describe it was an ambush. I had no words I couldn’t formulate sentences. My brain was trying to defend itself when they were needing me to apologize for all of the ways I have f***ed up and made her feel unsafe,” Baldoni claimed. “Ryan [Reynolds] was talking to me like a five-year-old and scolding me, They essentially said that Jamey and I are not who we claimed to be and that for us to have a podcast is unsafe because it makes people feel like we are safe.”

Baldoni claimed that what he was accused of was “completely out of context.”

“The word creepy and abuse were used in reference to me in my behavior. I was then given the words of what to say, and had to apologize which I was unable to do because my brain was trying to comprehend what was happening,” he continued. “I was in shock and basically went into feeling like I was a seven-year-old again when I got home last night. I was emotionally paralyzed.”

Baldoni added that he was “embarrassed” that he was “unable to even formulate the correct words to apologize” and felt “like a bad person.”

“It’s hard to feel so much of what they believe about me is false because they are so convinced that it’s real,” he wrote. “Looking for the nuggets of learning which there are many and somehow have showed up today. Thanks to Jamey and my wife and we are currently shooting. I love you all.”

Baldoni also claimed that he was told that working on It Ends With Us was “the worst experience” of Lively’s life. He subsequently spoke to his therapist about the conversation for “an hour.”

“I don’t know how I will make it through, but I know that I will, and just knowing you’re all there from me means the world to me because even with Jamey here and my wife and family I’ve never felt so alone,” he wrote. “Putting a smile on doing my best to lead the crew. I wil l unpack and process this when we wrap of course . I apologize for the vulnerability dump. This is one of the few safe spaces I have right now. I love you all and thank you for your prayers.”

Wilson responded to Baldoni sharing he was “stunned.”

“Oh my God. I can’t believe it. You were set up and ambushed and personally attacked. I’m stunned. I completely relate to you being stunned, like a deer in the headlights. Probably better that you didn’t immediately just start apologizing,” Wilson replied. “So grateful that Jamey is your partner, and could step in diplomatically as needed. Onwards brother. Make a great and important and entertaining piece of storytelling. That’s all you can do now. So sorry for what you went thru.”

Justin Baldoni Discusses Feeling ‘Betrayed’ by Colleen Hoover

While speaking in a group chat with his PR team, Justin Baldoni revealed that It Ends With Us author Colleen Hoover sent him a text message asking for an article about the movie’s ending to be taken down.

“Colleen just texted this to us- first time we’ve heard from her,” Baldoni replied while attaching a screenshot of the message. “Can someone please Send jamey the actual context of what I said so he can respond to Colleen … I never said I changed his fate – I said I didn’t want to see him at the end of the movie as it was too complicated to explain how he was coparenting and would draw too many people in and SHE agreed.”

Baldoni added that he felt like he took the “high road” amid the drama and claimed that Hoover “betrayed” and “ghosted” him. One of his PR people advised him to take the “opportunity” to “open up” a dialogue with the author.

“I’m sorry I don’t have the capacity just right now in this moment to be the bigger person and to do that,” Baldoni replied. “You have to remember that it was her betrayal that landed me in the hospital. It’s been devastating to me.”

Jamey Heath weighed in, adding that Baldoni was “full of emotion” and encouraged that they avoid adding to the fire. Baldoni then workshopped several drafts on his response to Hoover.

“Colleen, I’m sorry that you are hurting. I want you to know that [I] have not lied or spoken ill of you. I am also not talking about my experience. I have been sticking to the same message of the movie which you know I cared deeply about from the beginning,” he wrote. “The headline is taken out of context which you will see from the interview. I spoke about this multiple times and they also don’t include everything I say.”

Baldoni continued, “None of which has anything to do with changing his trajectory in the second book which I of course asked you about multiple times to understand where the story goes. You supported my decision to remove him from the end of the movie and there has been no talk about him in a sequel. We do not control the headlines. Since this is the first time I’ve heard from you, I just want you to know that I have deeply cared about you for the past five years and that hasn’t changed.”
