Tyler Stanaland is opening up about his decision to leave the Oppenheim Group — and what was going on in his personal life behind-the-scenes.
In the season 4 premiere of Selling the OC, the real estate agent returned to the Netflix show and explained to Austin Victoria why he briefly took a step back from his friend group.
“I had so much going on. I was stuck in this place, and I couldn’t get out of it,” Stanaland, 36, shared in season 4, which became available to stream on Wednesday, November 12. “Business wasn’t going right. I don’t think I realized how crushed I was when my marriage didn’t work out, and I just didn’t deal with life well afterwards.”
In September 2022, Stanaland and Brittany Snow announced they were separating after two years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in July 2023.

After separating from Snow, 39, Stanaland grew closer to costar Alex Hall. Although they shared a kiss in the season 2 finale, a romantic relationship never fully blossomed.
“Do you think part of the reason you left is because of the whole thing with Hall?” Victoria, 34, asked on the show.
Stanaland replied, “I think it was a factor for sure. It’s good though. I definitely feel like I got to the bottom of what I was feeling and why, and I feel like I’m in the best place I’ve been in personally in a long, long time. I miss the crew too. It just got messy and weird.”
Stanaland previously confirmed to Us Weekly in October 2023 that he was leaving The Oppenheim Group to become the newest member of the top-producing John Stanaland Group.

In season 4 of Selling the OC, Stanaland wasn’t working under Jason and Brett Oppenheim. Instead, he simply chose to document his life as a realtor alongside his friends, including Polly Brindle, Gio Helou and other agents.
During the show, Stanaland and Hall, 34, had the opportunity to reunite after not speaking for nearly a year and a half.
In a tense scene, Hall questioned why her close friend never set the record straight about their friendship.
“There’s a much larger elephant in the room for me when it comes to our relationship, and it has to do with your ex-wife going on a very, very public podcast and saying things,” she said. “I truly believe there’s a possibility that your ex-wife thought that I was the other woman in the equation. … I just don’t want to get blamed as being the other woman because your ex-wife thinks it was me, and it wasn’t me. It was someone else.”

After Hall claimed that she lost nearly $50,000 in business over the affair rumors, Stanaland apologized for his actions and expressed his hope that they could get to a better place.
“I really really wish I could go back and do so much differently and I can’t,” he said. “But what I can do is look you in the face and tell you I’m sorry.”
Snow has never explicitly said what the final straw in her marriage was, but she has made some rather pointed hints.
“I was not aware of a lot of things, and I’ll say that,” Snow said during her March 2024 appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. “So, I will say, what people think happened, happened.”

All parties appear to be in a better place today. Stanaland is engaged to Hannah Morrissey, while a source confirmed to Us that Snow received a proposal from Hunter Moreno.
As for Hall, she introduced fans to her new boyfriend Ian Young during season 4 of Selling the OC. They recently bought a house together in Temecula, California. And yes, they are friendly with Stanaland today.
