Kathryn Dennis was hoping the judge would have a change of heart.
The Southern Charm star, 34, filed a motion to “reconsider” her 30-day jail sentence while already serving time at the Berkeley County Hill-Finklea Detention Center in South Carolina for her DUI conviction, Us Weekly can exclusively report.
Through her attorney, Dennis argued for a reduction based on three separate claims, according to the court documents filed on October 6, just three days after the ex-Bravolebrity started her jail stint.
She alluded that the sentence didn’t match the crime, claiming in the filing obtained by Us that “the vast majority of dui/ open container cases are sentenced to paying a fine or minimal jail time.” She argued “that rarely is a defendant sentenced to the maximum.”

Dennis also referenced two alleged comments made by the judge.
In the docs, Dennis claimed the judge remarked “that she and her child could have been on the road at the same time and location” of the crash, and therefore, Dennis “could have hurt the Judge and her child.”
The ex-Bravo personality argued that the hypothetical was made “out of the passion of the moment rather than as a factual basis for the sentence.”
Dennis further noted why she believed her sentence should be reduced, claiming the judge stated she “should have been charged with felony dui.”
She claimed the judge made the alleged comment “without having a factual basis to make such a statement.”
Us reached out to Dennis’ lawyer for comment.
The ex-reality star was arrested in May 2024 after being involved in a three-car crash. She was later sued by a man named Larry Patrick Griffin, who claimed he suffered “serious” injuries as a result of the collision, which he said was caused by Dennis when her truck slammed into the rear of another vehicle, which subsequently hit his car.
In the lawsuit, Griffin accused Dennis of being “under the influence and sway of alcohol and/or controlled substances” at the time of the crash, which he blamed solely on her alleged negligence.

Griffin, who asked for unspecified damages in his suit, claimed he “suffered serious bodily injury, pain and suffering, and mental anguish, and will continue to do so in the future” due to the accident.
Dennis has yet to respond to the lawsuit.
On top of the DUI, she was also convicted of transporting a container of alcohol in a motor vehicle with the seal broken, as officers found an unopened miniature bottle of Fireball on the floorboard of her pickup at the crash site.
Photos obtained by Us showed at least four of the mini cinnamon-flavored whisky bottles in Dennis’ vehicle, with one appearing to be empty.
At the scene, police observed that Dennis had “glossy eyes and an odor of alcohol coming from her person.”
She denied consuming any alcohol or medication before the accident. However, later during questioning, Dennis allegedly admitted to having alcoholic beverages “way earlier” that day.
In the end, Dennis spent a total of 11 days behind bars following her DUI conviction.
Us exclusively reported her jail release on Tuesday, October 14.
The star joined Southern Charm at its inception in 2014. She shares two children, daughter Kensington, 11, and son St. Julien Rembert, 9, with her ex and former castmate Thomas Ravenel.
Dennis left the Bravo show in January 2023 after eight seasons. Ravenel exited the series in 2018, despite making a cameo in one 2020 episode.
Season 11 of Southern Charm premieres on November 19, without Dennis or Ravenel.
