Tom Sandoval wasted no time sharing his true feelings about former Vanderpump Rules costar Katie Maloney — and the feeling is clearly mutual.
“It’s funny you bring up Katie because … did any of you watch ID Discovery?” Sandoval, 43, said during his Saturday, December 20, live show in Pittsburgh, playing a round of “F***, Marry, Kill” with his former costars. “You commonly hear about a woman that was murdered. They always have one thing in common [and say] ‘she had a smile that would light up the room.’”
He continued, “Katie’s like the opposite of that. She does not light up a room at all.”
Sandoval further insinuated that Katie, 38, was unlike most victims and was in “no danger of being murdered.”
In the end, Sandoval chose to “murder” Maloney, hook up with Lala Kent and marry Lisa Vanderpump.
Social media footage of Sandoval’s rant quickly went viral, reaching Katie herself.
“Lol well he has the characteristics of a murderer,” Katie wrote via Instagram comment on Sunday, December 21.
Sandoval has not further addressed his comments about Katie or her response. Us Weekly has reached out to a rep for the TomTom owner for comment.
Katie and Sandoval were two of the OG cast members on Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules, during which Katie dated and married Sandoval’s BFF, Tom Schwartz. Katie and Schwartz, 43, ultimately divorced in 2022, shortly before Sandoval cheated on then-girlfriend Ariana Madix with Rachel “Raquel” Leviss. (Katie and Ariana, 40, are close friends, even co-owning the Something About Her sandwich shop.)
Since the VPR recast season 12 with a new group of SURvers, Katie and Sandoval have remained distant.
“I look to my left and there’s not a ton of people, but there’s enough people that it’s still a pretty intimate gathering of folks. I look over and Tom Sandoval is in cosplay as Fred Durst,” Katie said on her “Disrespectfully” podcast in September 2024, revealing she last saw Sandoval at a Limp Bizkit concert. “Normally, he’s wearing a black TomTom hat, but this was a red hat. He picked the red hat for the evening.”
According to Katie, she didn’t even try to greet Sandoval.
“[We] ignore them. Where I need to look is out here anyway,” she quipped. “I don’t need to look over there. I keep my attention over here. At one point, I’m looking to my left and out of my periphery, I see [Sandoval and girlfriend Victoria Robinson] and they’re just waving at me. It kind of was a little bit of a f*** you.”
Katie added, “It didn’t obviously ruin anything, but we could have done without it. I’m not paying attention. I’m not doing anything.”
Katie had attended the concert with show alum Dayna Kathan, who felt the near-interaction was “obviously uncomfortable.”
“We were there as a guest of the band, and I’m not about to make a scene. I’m not about to have a confrontation there,” Dayna, 35, said at the time. “I could have done my whole life without it. All I can say about it is it felt like some really hostile energy coming from them. The vibes were weird. It felt very like them trying to take up space and be like, ‘We are here. F*** you.’”
