Vice President JD Vance Reacts to Nicki Minaj’s Sit-Down With Erika Kirk

Vice President JD Vance is singing his praises for Nicki Minaj after her appearance at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest.

“Nicki Minaj said something at Amfest that was really profound,” Vance, 41, wrote via X on Monday, December 22. “I’m paraphrasing, but she said, ‘Just because I want little Black girls to think they’re beautiful doesn’t mean I need to put down little girls with blonde hair and blue eyes.’”

The Vice President continued, “We all got wrapped up over the last few years in zero sum thinking. This was because the people who think they rule the world pit us against one another. @NICKIMINAJ rejects that. We all should.”

On Sunday, December 21, Minaj, 43, surprised some fans when she made an unexpected appearance at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest with new CEO Erika Kirk (née Frantzve).

The White House has the internet talking after using one of Taylor Swift’s hit singles on TikTok despite President Donald Trump’s online feud with the pop star. During her sit-down with Kirk, 37, at Phoenix’s Convention Center, the “Super Bass” rapper praised President Donald Trump and Vance as good examples for young men.

“You have amazing role models like the assassin, JD Vance, our vice president,” she said.

Soon after realizing her words, Minaj covered her mouth with her hand to signify she may be embarrassed. Kirk, meanwhile, reassured Minaj that she wasn’t offended by the word.

“Trust me, there’s nothing new under the sun that I have not heard,” Kirk said with a laugh. “So, you’re fine. I love you [and] you have to laugh about it — truly. I have been called every single thing, and you know what? God is so good, you let it roll right off your back.”

Erika was named the CEO of Turning Point in September after her husband, the organization’s former chairman, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated at the age of 31.

Since Charlie’s death, Erika has vowed not to be silent as she carries on her late husband’s legacy.

“He knew that evil wins when good people stay silent,” Erika said at Fox Nation’s Patriot Awards on November 6. “For the rest of my life, I will make sure that I don’t stay silent. I’ll keep speaking the truth no matter the cost. I pray that all of you do too, for Charlie.”

AmericaFest is part of Turning Point USA’s mission to identify, educate, train and organize students to promote the principles of fiscal responsibility, free markets and limited government.

During her chat with Erika, Minaj praised young adults getting involved and engaged with politics early on in life.

“I’m proud of you guys! To be so young for you guys that are in college and to care this much this early in your life? It tells us how smart you are,” she said. “It tells us there’s hope for our future. God bless you! Congratulations you guys. You are amazing. Know it. Feel it proudly, be it proudly, be who you are proudly.”

When asked why she has become involved in speaking about political matters, Minaj explained, “I just got tired of being pushed around. Sometimes you just get tired of it and then you realize, wait a minute, I have something inside of me that’s stronger than what’s out there. … I’m not going to back down anymore.”
