Woman Who Tried to Poison Husband Charged With Perjury, Evidence Tampering

A Connecticut mother already accused of trying to fatally poison her husband is now facing perjury and evidence tampering charges, Us Weekly has learned.

Kristen Hogan, 33, stands accused of committing perjury and tampering with evidence during an ongoing custody and paternity dispute with her husband.

Hogan was arrested on December 11 for trying to poison her husband back in August. Hogan allegedly laced her husband’s wine and iced tea with ethylene glycol, a chemical most commonly found in antifreeze.

Hogan’s husband had told police he suspected his wife mixed the toxic drinks and left them for him in their refrigerator. Police started investigating Hogan after he was hospitalized. Hogan at first denied the allegations but eventually confessed to detectives.

But now, Hogan is accused of bringing her nephew to a DNA test ordered by the court after she claimed to a judge her husband was not their son’s biological father. She said her husband had no right to pursue custody of the boy.

The fake DNA test happened in June 2023.

A private investigator had been hired to follow Hogan from the laboratory where the testing occurred, and it was determined Hogan had actually brought her nephew.

A Michigan man was so intent on evading child support payments, he enlisted a look-alike friend to help him try to cheat on a paternity test — and now, both of them men are facing criminal charges and serious prison time. In a statement on the men’s arrests, Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said […]

Investigators used social media images to confirm the boy was Hogan’s sister’s son.

“During this period, the younger male child that had been observed at the appointment location was observed and overheard by [an investigator] addressing the subject’s sister as ‘Mommy,’” the report, furnished to Us Weekly, said. The report noted that the boy’s words “can also be lip read on the video that was being taken at the time.”

Neither Hogan’s sister nor her mother seemed to be aware that Hogan allegedly used her nephew for the paternity test, and they were none too happy about it.

“[Hogan’s sister] stated she learned of this issue through reading court documents and upon discovering that her children were used to falsify a DNA test she became angry,” the report added. “[Hogan’s sister] stated that since she became aware of the entirety of this situation, she has had minimal contact with Kristen Hogan. I asked if she believed [Hogan’s mother] was aware of what Kristen Hogan planned on doing that day. [Hogan’s sister] stated she believed her mother did not have any knowledge of the situation.”

Even when confronted by detectives, a former boyfriend of Hogan’s — who had lived with her and her children — also identified the boy taken to the lab as Hogan’s nephew, and not her son.

After a December 2024 hearing at which the surveillance footage was shown, the judge “ultimately determined that Hogan was not presenting a truthful testimony” about the DNA test, according to the warrant.

Hogan turned herself in on Thursday, December 18, and posted $50,000 bond for her release. She was scheduled to appear in court again on Tuesday, December 23. Us Weekly called numbers listed for Hogan but was unable to reach her for comment.

Hogan’s attempted murder case is still pending. She will be in court again on January 27, 2026.
